Principal's Message
Principal Tankersley

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It has been a fabulous start to the 2016-2017 school year! I look forward to serving as your principal for the third year. Our theme for this school year is, “Grace Changes Everything”. Our focus is on serving our school and community.

We have seen growth in enrollment this year and are so excited about the addition of our two new Primary classrooms (PK 3-4 and K).  Not only did we meet state standards for the 2015-2016 school year on our STAAR tests, but we met all four state targets as well. This could not be possible without your support!

Since completing my Montessori Administration Certification last fall, we have sent 9 teachers to complete their Montessori training in Houston. Following the Montessori curriculum and philosophy is our focus, and by teaching to the child, we allow every student to experience success and also rise above all expectations.

Below is a short bio pertaining to my educational and professional experience:

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with a Minor in Sport Management from Texas A&M University in 2000. I received my Master's Degree in Education Administration from the University of Phoenix-San Antonio in 2012. In addition to my Principal's Certification, I hold several teaching certifications that include Special Education, Secondary English, Generalist EC-12, and Physical Education (all levels).

I have been in education going on 17 years. My first six years were spent coaching and teaching in Mexia ISD. From 2006 to present, I have served as a teacher, coach, Instructional Specialist, Assistant Principal at University High School, and currently am Principal at LAMM. During my time in WISD, I have taught English and Special Education while coaching at Tennyson and Waco High. Four years ago, I moved into an Instructional Specialist position at Lake Air Intermediate School. From August of 2011-May 2014, I served as an Assistant Principal over Special Education/504 and was campus testing coordinator at University High School under Principal Dr. Bill Shepard. I am currently in my 3rd year serving as principal of LAMM.

Sincerely,
Stephanie Tankersley, M. Ed.
